Deterministic Policy Engine

How Gate evaluates deterministic policies and budget ceilings prior to agent tool execution.

Gate evaluates structured rules prior to any real-world side effect.

Principles of Determinism

Traditional LLM safety guards rely on secondary LLM calls to judge whether a proposed action is safe. This introduces non-deterministic latency, probabilistic failure modes, and prompt-injection risks.

Gate replaces probabilistic evaluation with: - Strict condition matching: Exact matching on parameters, accounts, SQL ASTs, or HTTP verbs. - Budget & rate ceilings: Hard mathematical ceilings on cumulative expenditures, API credits, and query frequencies. - Fail-closed posture: Any rule mismatch, parsing error, or timeout automatically rejects or pauses the request.
